“stayed” in Japanese

滞在したいた

Definition

ある場所や状態にしばらくとどまったり、一時的にホテルや友人の家などに滞在したことを表す過去形です。

「滞在した」は一時的な滞在に、「いた」は存在・状態の継続に使います。「『stayed home』『stayed at a hotel』」のような表現に注意。「live」とは違い、基本的に一時的です。

She stayed calm during the test.

彼女はテスト中も**冷静でいました**。

I stayed home yesterday because I was sick.

昨日は体調が悪かったので家に**いました**。

We stayed at a small hotel near the beach.

私たちはビーチの近くの小さなホテルに**滞在しました**。
