続編とは、前作の物語を引き継ぎ、その後の展開を描く本や映画、ストーリーのことです。

映画や小説などエンタメ分野で多く使い、同じキャラクターやストーリーが続く時に『続編』を使います。前日談である『前編（プリクエル）』と混同しないように注意しましょう。
