Definition

"Sands" হল "sand"-এর বহুবচন, সাধারণত অনেক বালির কণা বা বালুর অঞ্চল (মরুভূমি, সমুদ্রতট) বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। মাঝে মাঝে এটি কবিত্বপূর্ণভাবে সময় বোঝাতেও ব্যবহৃত হয়, যেমন "the sands of time"।

সাধারণত সাহিত্যমূলক বা আনুষ্ঠানিক প্রয়োগে, যেমন বালির বিস্তীর্ণ এলাকা, মরুভূমি বা 'the sands of time'-এর মতো প্রকাশে ব্যবহৃত হয়। সাধারণত কথোপকথনে 'sand' বেশিবার শোনা যায়। 'Sands' অনেক সময় স্থাননামে দেখা যায়।
