さびは、鉄や鋼が水や空気に触れることでできる赤茶色の層です。この現象による損傷や、ものがさび始める動詞としても使います。

“Rust”は名詞（さびや損傷）や動詞（さびる）で使います。'rust-proof'（さび止め）、'rusty'（さびた）もよく使います。能力低下などにも比喩的に使います。
