로버는 주로 행성이나 달 표면을 탐사하고 정보를 수집하기 위해 만들어진 로봇 차량입니다.

현대에는 '로버'가 거의 항상 우주 탐사 로봇 차량을 가리킵니다(예: '화성 로버'). 일반 차량이나 사람에게는 사용하지 않습니다.
