植物の根は、土の中で成長し、水や栄養を吸収する部分です。また、物事の原因や根本という意味でも使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'root'は植物にも、問題や理由などの根本にも使われます。'the root of the problem'や'root cause'のような表現がよく使われます。英語の'root for'（応援する）は別の意味ですので注意しましょう。
