川で水が激しく岩の上を流れる速い流れの部分。ラフティングやカヤックなどのスポーツに人気です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

ほとんど常に複数形で使われます。冒険スポーツ（例: 'shoot the rapids'＝急流下りをする）について話す時によく使います。「rapid」とは異なる意味です。
