警察や軍隊が犯罪者を捕まえたり何かを見つけたりするために、場所に突然入ること。また、予期せぬ攻撃や急襲にも使われます。

ニュースや警察・軍事関連の文脈で使われることが多いです。「police raided the house」や「store was raided」などの表現が一般的です。急に踏み込むニュアンスがあり、『robbed』や『searched』とは異なります。
