'구실'과 '핑계'는 모두 부정적인 의미로, 거짓 이유를 내세운 상황에서 사용함. 'Under the pretext of'는 '...을 구실로'라고 번역; 'use as a pretext'는 '구실로 삼다'. '변명'보다는 의도적 속임수가 강조된다.
