誰か（特に指導者や政府）を力で権力の座から追い落とすこと。スポーツでは、目標を越えて投げ過ぎる意味もある。

主に政治的状況で使われ、『政府を打倒する』のように使う。スポーツでは、力を入れすぎて投げ過ぎる場合に使われる。
