Definition

泥とは、水と土が混ざってできる湿った柔らかい土のことです。雨の後などによく見られ、汚れやすく滑りやすいです。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「泥」は通常、数えられない名詞で、「There is mud on your shoes」のように使い、「muds」とは言いません。「泥だらけ」「泥まみれ」などの言い回しがよく使われます。「泥」は一般的な濡れた土を指し、「粘土（clay）」は特別な種類の土です。
