Definition

এটি একটি পুরাতন ইংরেজি শব্দ, যা কারও মনোযোগ আকর্ষণ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়, যেমন 'দেখো' বা 'শোনো'। আজকাল সাধারণত সাহিত্যে বা নির্দিষ্ট কিছু বাক্যে পাওয়া যায়।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

আজকের দিনে ব্যবহার খুবই বিরল। সাধারণত 'lo and behold' বাক্যাংশে দেখা যায়, যা কৌতুকপূর্ণ বা নাটকীয় শোনায়। জানা থাকলে যথেষ্ট, ব্যবহার করার দরকার হয় না।

Examples

Lo, the sun rises over the hill.

**দেখো**, সূর্য পাহাড়ের ওপরে উঠেছে।

It sounds funny if you say lo in normal conversation today.

আজকাল সাধারণ কথোপকথনে **দেখো** বললে মজার শোনায়।

And lo, there was a bright star in the sky.

আর **দেখো**, আকাশে এক উজ্জ্বল তারা ছিল।
