Definition

안 좋은 일이 일어날까 봐 미리 뭔가를 할 때 쓰는 표현이다. 주로 걱정하거나 조심하는 상황에 쓴다.

Usage Notes (Korean)

매우 격식적이고 문어체에서 주로 사용됨. 일상적인 대화에서는 자연스럽지 않고, 대신 'in case'나 'so that'이 자연스럽다.
