Definition

場所や人から離れること、または何かをその場に残すこと。活動をやめたり、誰かに不在の許可を与える意味もある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

フォーマル・インフォーマルどちらでもよく使います。『leave for』（〜へ向かう）、『leave behind』（〜を置いていく）、『leave out』（省く）という表現があります。『let』と違い、実際にその場を離れる意味が強いです。

Examples

I'm going to leave for the party in ten minutes.

あと10分でパーティーに**出発します**。
