Definition

किसी बात की सच्चाई पता करने के लिए जानकारी इकट्ठा करना, तथ्यों की जाँच करना या सवाल पूछना। इसका प्रयोग अक्सर अपराध, समस्या, दुर्घटना या वैज्ञानिक शोध के संदर्भ में होता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

यह 'look into' से अधिक औपचारिक है। सामान्य संयोजन हैं 'investigate a crime', 'investigate the cause', और 'investigate whether/how...'। यह आमतौर पर सावधानीपूर्वक और व्यवस्थित जाँच का भाव देता है, न कि बस हल्की-सी पड़ताल का।
