주로 사회적/문화적 맥락에서 사용 ('intolerant of other beliefs'는 다른 신념에 대해 편협함을 의미). 음식이나 물질에 대한 과민 반응도 나타냄('lactose intolerant'). 'unaccepting'보다 부정적인 의미가 강함. 'of'나 'to'와 함께 자주 사용.
