将来何かをするつもりであること。または、特定の人や目的のために設計されていること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'intend to + 動詞'の形でよく使います。フォーマルな場では'be intended for'で「～向けに作られた」という意味になります。'intend'は'want'より意志が強く、'plan'ほど確定的ではありません。'pretend'と混同しないように注意してください。
