Definition

カットされ、価値の高い石で、宝飾品に使われるダイヤモンドやルビーなどを指します。優れた人や物を比喩的に表現する際にも使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に宝石類全般を指しますが、“hidden gems”や“彼女は本当に宝物”のように比喩的に人や場所にも使います。日常的な石にはあまり使いません。
