誰かを安全に案内したり、保護のために一緒に行動すること。また、護衛や付き添いの人自体も指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

警備や警察、重要な来客などに対して使われることが多く、'escort someone to the door'は丁寧に案内する、'police escort'は警察の護衛の意味。日常の「一緒に行く」よりもかしこまった表現です。場合によっては有料の同伴（風俗など）を指すこともあるので注意。
