문어체, 영화, 문학 등에서 상황이 너무 절망적일 때 사용합니다. 'sealed his doom'(운명을 결정짓다), 'doom and gloom'(절망적인 분위기)처럼 씁니다. 단순한 불운에는 쓰지 않습니다.
