物事の進路や注意を別の方向に変えること。問題を避けたり、気をそらしたりする時に使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に「traffic（交通）」や「attention（注意）」などに用いられます。人が方向を変える時は「turn」などを使い、「entertain」の意味では古風な表現です。
