बहुत गंभीर, तात्कालिक या भयानक परिस्थितियों के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है, जिसमें खतरा, पीड़ा या कठिनाई शामिल हो सकती है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

"Dire" औपचारिक है और आमतौर पर "situation", "need", "consequences" जैसे शब्दों के साथ आता है, जिससे गंभीरता या तत्कालता ज़्यादा दिखती है। रोज़मर्रा की भाषा में कम इस्तेमाल होता है। "direction" या "director" से न मिलाएं।
