預金は銀行口座にお金を入れること、またはホテルや賃貸などで保証として預けるお金のこと。動詞ではお金を銀行口座に入れることも指す。

銀行や賃貸契約でよく使われる。'pay a deposit'は一部前払い、'make a deposit'は預金する。賃貸では'security deposit'が使われる。動詞の'deposit'はやや堅い表現。
