شخص مدرب على تقديم التوجيه بشأن المشاكل الشخصية أو الاجتماعية أو النفسية. يُستخدم أيضاً للمشرف في المخيمات أو في الدبلوماسية.

التهجئة بحرف 'l' مزدوج هي بريطانية؛ في الإنجليزية الأمريكية تُكتب 'counselor'. تراكيب شائعة: "school counsellor"، "camp counsellor"، "marriage counsellor".
