Definition

「compare」の過去形や過去分詞で、二つ以上のものを比べて似ている点や違いを調べるという意味です。よく「compared to」や「compared with」の形で使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

多くの場合「compared to」や「compared with」の形で使われます。「compared with」はより中立的な直接比較、「compared to」は比喩的なニュアンスになることがあります。受動態（例：『The two products were compared』）でもよく使われます。
