정답이나 어떤 사실을 알아내는 데 도움이 되는 정보나 단서. 주로 미스터리, 수사, 게임 등에서 사용됨.

일상적으로 복수형으로 사용: '단서를 찾다', '단서 주다'. 'a clue about', 'a clue to', '단서를 따라가다' 등과 같이 쓴다. 구어체에서 'I haven't got a clue'는 '전혀 모르겠다'는 뜻.

The police found two clues in the room.
