自由を奪われ、閉じ込められた状態。特に囚人や動物が檻の中で過ごすこと。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に動物園の動物や捕らわれた人に使われます。自発的にいる場合には使いません。「held in captivity」「release from captivity」などの表現に使われます。
