Definition

কোনও চাকরি, পদ, পুরস্কার বা নির্বাচনের জন্য যাকে বিবেচনা করা হচ্ছে, অথবা আবেদন করেছেন এমন একজন মানুষ। কাউকে বিশেষ কোনো চিকিৎসা বা ভূমিকার জন্যও উপযুক্ত মনে করা হলে তাকেও বলা হয়।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

'job candidate' বা 'presidential candidate' পেশাগত ও নির্বাচনী ক্ষেত্রে বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'candidate for + noun' একটি সাধারণ ধারা: যেমন 'operation-এর জন্য উপযুক্ত প্রার্থী'। এটি তুলনামূলকভাবে আনুষ্ঠানিক শব্দ।
