あざは、ぶつかったりけがをした時に皮膚の下で血がにじんでできる痕です。比喩的に、心に強いダメージを受けた経験も指します。

物理的なあざ以外に、'bruising encounter' のように精神的に辛い体験にも使います。'Severe bruising' はひどいあざや大きな心の傷を意味します。
