봉쇄는 전쟁이나 분쟁 시에 사람이나 물자가 한 장소에 들어오거나 나가는 것을 막는 조치입니다.

주로 군사, 정치, 경제 분야에서 공식적으로 사용됩니다. '봉쇄를 실시하다', '봉쇄를 뚫다', '해상 봉쇄' 등의 표현이 일반적입니다. 비유적으로도 쓰일 수 있습니다.
