किसी चीज़ के करीब या लगभग उसी के जैसा, लेकिन बिल्कुल नहीं; विशेषण (लगभग सटीक) या क्रिया (मूल्य या मात्रा के क़रीब आना) के रूप में इस्तेमाल हो सकता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

'Approximate' औपचारिक है और अक्सर तकनीकी, वैज्ञानिक या गणितीय संदर्भों में आता है। इसे विशेषण ('an approximate number') या क्रिया ('to approximate a value') की तरह उपयोग करते हैं। आम बोलचाल में लगभग के लिए 'about' या 'around' ज्यादा चलते हैं। 'Estimate' से न मिलाएँ, जो आमतौर पर अंदाजा लगाने के लिए है।
