Definition

일이나 과정, 임무를 끝나기 전에 멈추는 것. 임신을 일찍 끝내는 의미로도 쓰임.

'abort'는 공식적이고 기술적인 상황에서 많이 사용됨(의료, 항공, IT 등에서 'abort the mission'). 컴퓨터에서는 프로그램을 멈춤. 'abortion'(명사)은 임신중절만 의미하니 구분해서 사용.

They had to abort the test due to a technical problem.

기술적인 문제로 인해 테스트를 **중단해야** 했다.

The pilot decided to abort the landing.

조종사는 착륙을 **중단하기로** 결정했다.
