Genellikle kazalar, savaş, istismar gibi ciddi olayların duygusal/psikolojik etkisini anlatır. 'Şok olmuş' veya 'üzgün' kelimelerinden daha resmi ve kliniktir. Küçük problemler için nadiren kullanılır.
