「スロットル」はエンジンの出力を調整する装置で、他にも何かを制限する操作や、首を絞めることも指します。

名詞としては主に乗り物のスロットルレバーを指します。動詞の場合はドラマチックな場面やIT分野（通信速度制限）で使われます。
