徐々に強さや激しさが弱まること。また、物が沈んでいく様子も表します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

やや硬い表現で、主に自然現象（洪水、風）、痛みや感情の緩和、土地や建物の沈下などに使われます。人に対しては使いません。『痛みが和らぐ』『水が引く』などの言い回しが一般的です。
