더 나은 방법이 마련될 때까지 잠시 사용하는 임시적인 방편이나 대책을 뜻함.

'stopgap measure(임시방편)'와 같이 사용됨. 장기적 해결이 아니라 임시적 대처를 강조할 때 쓴다.
