Tener probabilidades de obtener o experimentar algo, especialmente un resultado; también puede significar estar listo para actuar, a menudo en un contexto militar o de emergencia.
Usage Notes (Spanish)
Se usa más en contextos formales, de noticias o negocios ('stand to gain/lose'). En lo militar, 'stand to' es una orden de estar alerta. Normalmente va seguido de un infinitivo o sustantivo ('stand to benefit', 'stand to lose'). No confundir con 'stand' solo.
