Rir baixinho, de forma contida ou disfarçada, geralmente quando algo é engraçado mas não se deve rir alto.

Termo semi-informal, indicando uma risada baixa, por vezes de deboche ou secreta. Usa-se muito 'snicker at' (rir de algo ou alguém). Não é forte como 'laugh' nem grosseiro como 'sneer'. Em inglês britânico, se diz mais 'snigger'.
