अक्सर अनौपचारिक; 'skate around the issue/question' जैसे वाक्यांशों में आम है। इसका मतलब टालना या बहाना बनाना है, असली स्केटिंग नहीं। 'Skate over' का अर्थ अलग है (पूरी तरह नजरअंदाज करना)।
