Definition

選挙や競技などで誰かの対立相手や競争相手となること。また、一般的に反対や対立の意味でも使われる。

主に政治やスポーツの場面で使われる。「run against a candidate」は選挙で対立候補になるという意味。物理的な「走る」には使わない。

She decided to run against her boss in the company election.
