다른 사람의 집에서 방 하나를 빌려 살며 주방, 욕실 등 공용 공간을 같이 쓰는 사람.

영국식 영어에서 주로 쓰이며, 미국에서는 'roomers', 'boarders'가 사용됨. 방 하나만 빌리는 경우 사용하며, 'take in lodgers', 'student lodgers' 같은 표현이 있다.

There are three lodgers living in my house.

내 집에는 세 명의 **하숙인**이 살고 있다.
