下宿人間借り人

Definition

他人の家の一部屋を借りて、キッチンやバスルームなどの共用スペースを使う人のこと。

主にイギリス英語で使われ、アメリカ英語では“roomers”や“boarders”。一つの部屋だけを借りる場合に使い、“tenants”とは異なるニュアンス。 “take in lodgers”“student lodgers”などの表現がある。

There are three lodgers living in my house.

私の家には三人の**下宿人**が住んでいる。

The lodgers share the kitchen and bathroom.
