Definition

누군가에게 다른 사람에게 메시지를 전해 달라고 하거나, 자리에 없는 사람에게 말을 남기는 것.

조금은 격식 있고, 직장, 호텔, 부재중일 때 주로 사용함. 요즘은 '메시지 남기다'를 더 자주 씀. '누구에게 말 남기다' 같은 표현도 자주 쓴다.

If you can't reach him, please leave word with the secretary.

그를 못 만나면, 비서에게 **말을 남겨 주세요**.

You can leave word at the front desk for Mr. Lee.

리 씨를 위해 프런트에 **말을 남길 수 있습니다**.

She asked me to leave word if there was any news.
