船に積まれて輸送される貨物や荷物のこと。特に海運の書類で使われる正式な言葉です。

非常に正式な単語で、普段は使われません。ほとんど「bill of lading（船荷証券）」の形で登場します。海上輸送に限って使われます。

The lading was inspected before being loaded onto the ship.
