擔保人是指當主要負責人無法償還債務或履行義務時，承諾代為償還或履行的人或機構。

常用於法律、金融及租賃情境。如主申請人信用不足時，需有'擔保人'。不要和'擔保'（承諾本身）混淆。屬於正式詞彙。
