Definition

차량이나 일이 완전히 멈춰서 더 이상 움직이지 못하는 상태를 말함. 주로 교통 체증이나 어떤 일이 전혀 진전되지 않을 때 사용함.

주로 'gridlocked traffic', 'gridlocked city'처럼 교통에 많이 쓰이나, 정치나 조직 내에서 진전 없는 상황도 표현함. 일반적인 'stuck'보다 더 심각한 느낌.

The highway was gridlocked for hours after the accident.

사고 이후 고속도로가 몇 시간 동안 **완전히 정체됐다**.
