あざけりからかいの言葉

Definition

誰かを傷つけたり、からかったりするために使われる嘲笑や皮肉を込めた言葉。

通常は複数形で使われ、やや文学的・フォーマルな印象。日常会話ではあまり使わず、「taunts」や「jibes」と似ている。'gibes at someone' のように使われることが多い。

His classmates made gibes about his new haircut.

クラスメートは彼の新しい髪型について**あざけり**を言った。

She ignored the gibes and kept smiling.
