Definition

불이 거의 꺼진 뒤에도 남아 있는 작고 빨갛게 빛나는 숯이나 나무 조각을 말합니다. 여전히 뜨겁고 불이 다시 붙을 수 있습니다.

'숯불', '불씨' 등은 주로 모닥불이나 벽난로 등에서 씁니다. 'glowing embers'는 타오르는 잔불을 가리키고, 비유적으로도 사용됩니다. 큰 불꽃에는 쓰지 않습니다.
