펜이나 물감 등으로 작은 점을 찍거나, 작은 점들로 덮는 행동.

주로 미술이나 손글씨를 할 때 사용됨. 큰 표시나 선에는 쓰지 않음. 'dotting the i’s'는 세세하게 신경을 쓴다는 의미.
