'Decedent' केवल औपचारिक और कानूनी दस्तावेजों में प्रयोग होता है, रोज़मर्रा की भाषा में नहीं। आम बोलचाल में 'मृतक' या 'स्व. (स्वर्गीय)' शब्द अधिक सामान्य हैं।
